People are comparing Martin McDonagh's 'Three Billboards' to Mary-Kate and Ashley's classic movie 'Billboard Dad'
PEOPLE ON TWITTER have been jokingly speculating about where Martin McDonagh got the inspiration for his award-winning drama Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri.
Twitter user and writer Jill Gutowitz has come up with her own theory after she saw some glaring parallels between Three Billboards and the 1998 Mary-Kate and Ashley hit film Billboard Dad.
She began to lay out her conspiracy theory on Twitter:

Jill Gutowitz suggested Frances McDormand’s powerful character Mildred Hayes was inspired by Mary-Kate and Ashley’s characters, who she describes as “two bull-headed women who stopped at nothing in pursuit of righteousness for their bloodline.” Fair.

Finally, Jill pointed out that we should thank the “feminist warriors who blazed the trail for actresses like Frances McDormand”, in reference – of course – to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
People have been noticing the similarities between the movies since Three Billboards was first released.
It’s hard not to, in fairness. There’s very little work done in the genre of Women Getting Their Point Across Via Billboard.
